The 8 prettiest streets in Paris

Paris is full of pretty streets, and we have compiled your go-to list of the prettiest streets in Paris to explore for yourself!

Paris has something for everyone, and if you’re an admirer of beautiful architecture and of simply wandering, you’ll fall in love with the French capital.

One of the many perks of living in and visiting Paris is the sheer number of pretty streets you will stumble across, all distinct from one another in style and history. There’s cobblestone streets in Montmartre, grand avenues in the heart of the city, artistic locales by the Seine and leafy havens in the suburbs. Every day in Paris is a new opportunity to discover some of the most awe-inspiring passages in Paris.

We have put together a shortlist of our favourite streets in Paris for you, and what you can expect to find when you make your way there.

1. Rue Cremieux

Arguably the most Instagrammed Parisian street thanks to its brightly painted facades, Rue Cremieux is a historic street in Paris’ 12th arrondissement. Once one of the city’s best kept secrets, today it is a magnet for photographers and social media personalities.

2. Rue des Glycines

Tucked away in the 13th arrondissement and still a hidden Paris secret, Rue des Glycines is a leafy little oasis that provides a peaceful place to wander amongst nature right in the city. The colourful homes here are covered in thick green foliage and draped with purple wisteria (what “glycines” means in French!), and in the warmer months, this area truly shines.

3. Avenue des Champs-Élysées

No list of the prettiest streets in Paris would be complete without the street that puts the French capital on the world map – the Champs-Élysées. This magnificent avenue runs almost 2km from the Place de la Concorde and ends at the Arc de Triomphe in the 8th arrondissement, and is a busy thoroughfare packed with monuments, shops, and restaurants. It is the beating heart of the city.

4. Avenue Montaigne

Branching off from the Champs-Élysées at the Arc de Triomphe, Avenue Montaigne is a 600 metre long street flanked by leafy trees and populated by elegant architecture and luxury fashion houses. Many of the biggest names in high fashion have their flagstaff locations here, and Avenue Montaigne is a pretty and prestigious street to explore.

5. Rue de l’Abreuvoir

One of the prettiest streets in Paris – and also one of the most recognisable – is Rue de l’Abreuvoir, a windy little dream of a street located in charming Montmartre. This quaint cobblestone street, dotted by cute and colourful homes, is also one of Paris’ oldest streets, with historical references to it dating back 700 years! The famous Maison Rose restaurant stands on the corner of Rue de l’Abreuvoir.

6. Rue Chanoinesse

Located on the Île de la Cité next to Notre Dame Cathedral, Rue Chanoinesse is a narrow medieval street that has many hidden surprises. This includes the beautiful Vieux Paris d’Arcole, one of the oldest and most charming cafes in Paris, which can be found seasonally draped in purple wisteria.

7. Rue Charlot

Rue Charlot is one of the most coveted addresses in Paris, and also one of the prettiest streets in Paris. Located in the hip Marais neighbourhood of central Paris, Rue Charlot is a narrow little street (just 10 metres wide) that is a magnet for artists. There’s independent fashion brands, artisan delicatessens, boutique jewellers and the offerings of the city’s favourite fresh produce market, Marché des Enfants Rouges.

8. Rue Norvins

Rue Norvins is easily one of the prettiest streets in Paris, and is a recognisable corner of the city village of Montmartre. This historic cobblestone street winds its way up to the bustling Place du Tertre and is dotted by iconic paris restaurants and cafes like Le Consulat. However, it is also crammed with souvenir shops that service that throngs of tourists that often pack this well-known street.
