Easter in Paris: 5 Ways To Celebrate The Holiday

Hopping with anticipation about the upcoming holiday and egg-cited about spending Easter in Paris? We’ve put together this guide to how to enjoy this spring celebration in the city.

Easter is a special time in Paris. Spring has sprung, our parks and gardens are green and lush, brightly-hued flowers are in bloom and the mood across the city is relaxed and eagerly anticipating a well-deserved break.

If you happen to find yourself visiting – or living – in Paris at Easter, you’re in for a treat. There are so many ways to ring in Easter in Paris, and there’s something for every person at every age to enjoy.

Whether you’re a sweet tooth, a parent of young children, a nature lover or someone eager to mark the religious significance of the holiday, you’ll love Easter in Paris.

This month on the Paris Teachers Club blog, we’ve shortlisted five special ways to spend Easter in Paris.

1) Join in on an Easter egg hunt

If you have children, you’ll know that no Easter is complete without an egg hunt, and Paris truly puts on a show with their range of events!

Major Paris landmarks, parks and gardens host thrilling Easter egg hunts. Standout event locations include Paris Zoological Park, Parc André Citroën, The Musee Rodin, Parc des Buttes Chaumont, plus many others. Make sure to search each Easter egg hunt individually for dates and times, with many requiring advanced registration.

2) Enrol in a chocolate making class

Nothing says Easter in Paris like high-quality, delicious chocolate, and the holiday is high time to learn how to make this exquisite treat yourself.

There are a variety of chocolate making classes across Paris. Edwart Chocolatier, The Chocolate Factory Paris and Le Musée du Chocolat all host classes and are French icons in the art of chocolate making.

If you’d prefer to join a tour that samples tasty creations in a range of places, we love this pastry and chocolate tour

3) Take in the spring cherry blossoms

Paris is famous for its stunning cherry blossoms, which bloom throughout March and April across the city. These flowering trees and their pastel hues are the perfect accompaniment to Easter, and make for a fabulous self-guided walking tour this Easter in Paris.

The best part is, you can find cherry blossoms all across the city, including at major landmarks. Our favourite Paris cherry blossom photo opportunities are at The Eiffel Tower, Trocadero Gardens, Jardin des Plantes. Tuileries Garden, Jardin Anne Frank and Parc Georges-Brassens.

4) Attend an Easter church service

Easter is an important religious holiday for many, and churches across Paris hold special Easter services to mark the occasion. Many churches even offer services in English, for expats or visitors to the city, including the American Church in Paris and American Cathedral in Paris.

Significant churches that host Easter services in Paris – particularly on Good Friday, Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday – include Notre Dame Cathedral, Sacré Cœur Basilica and Sainte-Etienne-du-Mont.

5) Discover Paris at your own pace

Easter in Paris is a busy time. While many locals head away from the city for the holiday, it also sees many tourists jet into the city for a long weekend escape.

With spring florals in bloom, the sun (hopefully!) shining and the vibe in the city one of enjoyment and ease, now is the time to explore the city on foot and at your own leisure.
