Apartment hunting in Paris is a rollercoaster of excitement and stress. From figuring out the ins and outs of the rental process, to wrapping your head around just how small 16 square meters really is – it can all feel a bit overwhelming at first.
In my experience, the easiest way to navigate it all is to find temporary accommodation when you arrive – Airbnb is a great option while you’re on the hunt for something more long-term.

What I enjoyed most about apartment hunting was getting to peek into all the different Parisian apartments, both within and (let’s be honest) way outside my budget. It gave me a real sense of what to expect in terms of space, style, and price.
Websites like PAP, Se Loger, and Le Bon Coin are super helpful for finding listings. Personally, I found my apartment through a Facebook group called “PARIS: Location appartement, Colocation, Sous-location chambre à louer” – I highly recommend checking it out!

Scams do exist, so if something seems too good to be true, it probably is. My advice? Have your dossier (rental application) ready to go, bring someone with you when inspecting a place, and never pay anything before seeing the apartment in person. Also, take time to research the neighborhood – feeling safe and at ease in your new home makes all the difference.
Good luck on your Parisian apartment adventure and remember – even if it takes a few tries, your little slice of Paris is out there waiting for you. Probably with a boulangerie just around the corner!
